Messy Mercury Retrograde Nov 25 2024
With all that’s been going on in my personal life, I failed to give you a heads-up about Mercury Retrograde that begins Monday, November 25, 2024 at 6:42 PM Pacific Time.
Pre-retroshade began November 7, 2024. Take stock of what’s been on your plate since then. You’ll be revisiting this and more during the Messy Mercury Retrograde.
RETROGRADE: When a planet makes its closest approach to Earth in its orbit around the Sun. From our perspective, it appears to travel backward, thus, retrograde. Slow down, prepare for unexpected delays and obstacles, and especially for this one, watch out for communication errors and testy reactions.
RETROSHADE or SHADOW: That chunk of sky a planet crosses over three times during a retrograde cycle:
- Pre-Retroshade
- Retrograde
- Post-Retroshade.
What Does It Matter?
Astrophysicists will tell you this phenomenon makes no difference whatsoever. And – if you are reading this, then you likely are one of those who have noticed how astrological events resonate with real-time human stuff. It’s subjective. If you have noticed retrogrades affect you, then read on!
Why Call It A “Messy” Mercury Retrograde?
In case you were asleep, we entered the shadow period on November 7 and already up to our eyeballs in messy human business.
Mercury is the observer, the reporter, the message keeper, and so wants to keep track of all the details. However, Mercury is traveling through fiery What Does It All Mean? Sagittarius. There’s less patience, a ravenous appetite for big conversations, and a serious lack of tact. Sound familiar? These are messy times.
Mercury Opposite Jupiter
Let Me Super Size That For You Jupiter, the King of Giving, is the ruling planet of Sagittarius.
RULING PLANET – Influences a sign with the planet’s archetypal qualities.
Jupiter is currently in Ooh, Look, Shiny! Gemini and opposes (is on the other side of the solar system) Mercury during this Retrograde.
Planets that oppose each other set up a dynamic relationship between extremes. In this case, we give ourselves whiplash following the ball bouncing from gotta nail down all the details to global assumptions. Either way, we are observing this endless match, or we are (regrettably) participating. It’s uncomfortable, unproductive, and messy.
MUTUAL RECEPTION – Mercury rules Gemini. Jupiter rules Sagittarius. Since they are opposed, they are said to be in Mutual Reception as they are moving through each other’s home signs.
This gives them even more of a kick, making you want to start ten different things. But since you can’t decide where to begin, though, you don’t. FOMO is not just an acronym, it’s a reason to dive into avoidance behaviors.
So, I Don’t Want That
Neither do I. That’s why I’m going to throw all the Messy Mercury Retrograde info/energy overload and focus-less confusion into the Grand Trine in Fire.
Ah – Tell Me More
GRAND TRINE – three or more planets aligned at 120° from each other to form an equilateral triangle.
Grand Trines bring balance to the energy flow pertaining to the element they are in. Fire represents quick change, rapid motivation. It’s transmutation through total take apart so things can be reassembled into the new form.
So, as frustration or feelings of futility arise, I can burn them up in a ceremonial fire. I may breathe those emotions in, then send them down to the core of the Earth. I’ll let the built up energy flow through and out of me. I wan to release rather than ignite!

What Else Should I Know?
Take the next three weeks to research and explore all those grand ideas.
Work on anything you have already begun, but delay final decisions if possible.
Implementation during the Retrograde could be difficult, so if you have to start something, double and triple check all the details.
Definitely have back-up plans for any travel on the calendar.
And, once again, I’ll stress that words can have edges that cut deeply. All of us can be feeling tender and may be more easily triggered.
