Leo Full Moon and Imbolc Shamanic Weather February 1, 2026
Every year I look to the Leo Full Moon for very personal messages. My Moon is in Leo, my Sun in Aquarius, so I live the eternal push-pull of the Here’s How I Shine Leo and We Can Shine Together Aquarius axis (opposition). This is a time where I examine and (hopefully) make the appropriate adjustments to balance my tendency to go within (Aquarius) and my desire to show up and engage (Leo).
This year, with all that’s going on, it is particularly hard to find that sweet spot between Ego and Collective, selfhood and community, “how do I make a difference” and “how can we together make a difference”.
LEO FULL MOON PRACTICE
So let’s see how we can bring this to something we can apply personally, since the big picture is beyond any one of us to manage.
First of all, you need to know that this year the Leo Full Moon coincides with Imbolc, the Gaelic/Celtic holiday that was absorbed into Christian Candlemas when they made Brighid, sometimes known as the maiden aspect of the three form Goddess, a Saint.
As the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Summer Equinox (Northern Hemisphere), Imbolc marks the awakening fire of Spring all around us, and within us.
So we have two powerful magical resources to engage with. We call upon the intertwining of the Leo Full Moon energies with the promise of new life Spring brings.
This is potent Full Moon Magic you can use to help clean your own Ego House and attune your Spiritual Intentions.
REFLECTION – START THERE
A Full Moon reflects the most sunlight to us of any other phase of the moon. Hear Me Roar! Leo Full Moon provides a mirror to no less than five heavenly bodies in Collective Change Aquarius.
Each planet represents an archetypal aspect of ourselves.
We have multiple aspects of our nature to stop, review, and decide what we want to keep, and what we want to release, all from that Self/Community axis:
- Sun – How are you choosing to participate in the world?
- Mercury – What do you want to communicate more deeply, and how?
- Venus – When did you last do a relationship review with family, friends, or yourself?
- Mars – Do your choices and actions align with where you really want to focus?
- Pluto – Who or what has your power? You, or…?
You can ponder these questions, or write them down. Add any that are appropriate for you.
GATHER YOUR MAGIC
However you prefer to set up a ceremony or ritual, initiate that process. You want to create a space to gather your magic and do something with that benefits you and, in that process, will benefit all of us.
Your healing is my healing; mine is yours!
CREATE THE WORKING
From your ponderings you should now have specific people, past conversations, actions you’ve taken, or wish you had/hadn’t you can list. I would write them out on paper that you don’t mind burning.
Take the page(s) and hold them, visualizing how you want things to change. It’s ok to take some time with this! Imprint the pages with your strong desires and intentions.
ENGAGE THE PROCESS
Now you get to burn these words and let the Shamanic Spirit of Fire activate the spell. Imbolc is a Fire Holiday, Brighid a Fire Goddess, and the first fires of Spring alight with the bright fire of the Sun.
As the paper burns, brush the smoke over you – crown, heart and belly. With gratitude, thank the Spirit of Fire and all your Spiritual Allies – Ancestors, Guides, Power Animals and such – for helping you release the that old, outdated stuff and imagine your new possibilities.
RELEASE THE TENSION
With your ceremony complete, you let go. Let the process flow without you having to poke at it energetically. You’ve done what you can. Now let time bring the new cycle alive!
