RUNNING TRANCE DANCE
Recently I took my own advice and went on a spiritual Jog/walk at Lake Murray, a running trance dance. I look at jogging and walking as a form of trance dance where the repetitive motion and the focus on Breath (not to mention the drumbeat of my heart!) take me into Journey space.
My intention: Clear any blocked channels. With so much going on in my life right now it is easy for the detritus to pile up.
It didn’t take long. As my walk began a scruffy little chick ran directly across my path from right to left. Lone baby birds on the main path are rare. I made a note of it, and I wasn’t surprised when shortly after a second bird, an adult wrentit, authoritatively did the same.
I was definitely on notice for messages from Creator.
The third bird took unexpected form. It was a white, single-engine plane flying, yes, from right to left.
DIRECTIONS
The birds flew West to East – going backward, retracing steps. In other traditions going from right to left means we are looking toward the past. Either way, this told me the messages coming in were about review and release.
I left the main path, stepping over rocky ground to a tree-graced point along the lakeshore where I could stretch. There I found a hidden single track that coiled like a skinny snake through chaparral and trees. Of course I followed it!
I ran; I panted; I listened; I thought about reviewing the past.
PAIN
Memories tear holes in our hearts. I needed to locate the leaks and patch them up! I asked for healing. My mantra: memories remain, release the pain. I kept running and breathing.
For my return run I set intention that with each step I was leaving my past behind.
VALIDATION
I found my way back to the same lakeshore tree shelter. I stretched again, and…I watched a bird, fly from left to right. I felt I was now in the present watching my future unfold.
“Maybe I’ll write up my experience to share,” I thought, and the second bird flew past me, left to right. Validation!
And as I sat there in my car journaling my experience the third bird flew overhead, the path of its shadow moving from left to right.
RUNNING TRANCE DANCE
Go out in nature and open your shamanic eyes. Set your intention, then get to walking, running, rock climbing, gardening, whatever establishes connection to the Earth and your body.
I hope you get a chance to do so SOON… and so does the dragonfly buzzing my car right now.
